O ambiente wiki permite que o usuários publiquem livremente conteúdos na internet, que são imediatamente divulgados em uma página web. O maior exemplo é o Wikipédia, uma enciclopédia em diferentes línguas produzida por milhares de pessoas. Hoje é considerado um dos sites com maior crediilidade no mundo virtual.
Aliás, a credibilidade da informação cada vez mais – no mundo virtual – está associada ao grau de participação dos usuários na produção dela. É o lema do software livre: "muitos olhos, poucos erros!".
